On reality TV shows all it takes is some staging and a couple of open houses and your house gets sold. Well that's television for you. In the crazy seller's market those shows were filmed during maybe that worked.
  The truth about open houses are they are buyer bait. An agent seldom gets a sale from an open house.  Agents meet potential buyers at open houses but they usually don't buy that particular house.
  Here in Ocala we are in the middle of a serious buyer's market. It's not uncommon to do an open house anf have no one show up. Don't get me wrong, if you stand out in a thunderstorm often enough you might get hit by lightning. Homes do get sold this way but not very often.
  Houses in Ocala or any where for that matter get sold by cooperating brokers. I show your house from an ad and the buyer doesn't like it and I sell him some other agents listing. Then another agent comes along and sells your home.
