Ocala Property Taxes

Property taxes are based on the sold price of the home and not what the previous owner was paying.

1. There are a number of exemptions the most important being the Homestead exemption which is currently $25,000.00 deducted from the appraised value of the home. For more info on exemptions go to the Marion County Property Appraiser website and click on FAQ.
2. There is also a Tax Estimator to be found at the above link. You’ll see it has different rates for different areas. If you are unsure of the part of Marion County you plan to live in you can always use the highest number as a worst case scenario.
3. As of this report, November 07, the state legislature is working on property tax relief. I will try and update this report as new information comes available.
